Gregory V. Gasbarro, M.D., is a Board Certified, Harvard Shoulder Fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He joined the medical staff in 2019 and has served as the Medical Director of the Shoulder Joint Journey Program since 2022. His main interests include rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and shoulder instability surgery. He has been voted as a Top Doctor by both Baltimore Magazine (2022-present) and Castle Connolly (2024). He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society and fellow of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Gasbarro has advanced fellowship training in arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery and treats patients aged 15 and older. This includes those with sporting injuries given his athletic background and experience as an assistant team physician for the Pittsburgh Penguins during residency. He also cared for many high school and collegiate athletes across Western Pennsylvania. He has authored numerous publications in prominent peer review journals including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He has presented lectures and research findings nationally and authored book chapters on Return to Play, Biologics such as Platelet Rich Plasma, and a variety of Shoulder Topics.

His undergraduate degree is from Case Western Reserve University, where he was a 2-year captain of the varsity soccer team and conducted clinical research at the Cleveland Clinic. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his residency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and was awarded as the Most Outstanding Chief Resident at graduation. Finally, he completed a Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at Harvard as well as a travelling fellowship at multiple sites in France with internationally renowned shoulder surgeons.

He has now become one of the leading shoulder specialists in the Baltimore region. He sees numerous second opinion cases weekly, and many patients travel from Western Maryland, the Eastern Shore, Delaware, Pennsylvania and beyond for further consultation. He has developed a large network of surgical colleagues and physical therapists in the Baltimore region given the high-volume of shoulder replacements, rotator cuff repairs, and shoulder instability surgeries that he performs annually.
